On October 1, 2005 The City of Manistique put it's new Fire Truck, Engine 11 into service. The truck was purchased witht he assistance of an Asssitance to Firefighters Grant from the Department of homeland Security. The truck and equipment cost $256,000.00.

Engine 11 was photographed once it recieved it's new title near the Manistique Lighthouse for the Calendar Progrem by Smeal Fire Apparatus which is where the truck was purchased. Picture turned out well but we didnt make the calendar!

Less that 24 hours after the truck was put into service, Engine 11 was dispatched to this Fuel Delivery Truck Fire on US-2 5 miles East of Manistique. Upon arrival the fuel truck had already breeched its safety valves.

Fire fighters were able to use the new trucks foam capabilities to extinguish the fire.

Engine 11 proved itself in perfomance in it's first fire call. Truck Operators said it was like a dream the truck ran without any problems and was so much easier to operate than the previous truck a 1976 Bean

After investigation, firefighters determined that the fuel truck's brakes had stuck and heated up until they caught fire. Firefighters were on the scene for about two hours and damage was confined to the fuel truck.
